A prestarter diet, as the term implies, is a type of feed given to young livestock, such as pigs or poultry, in the early stages of their lives, even before they are introduced to a "starter diet". The aim of a pre-starter diet is to facilitate a smooth transition from mother's milk to solid feed, and to make sure these animals get the necessary nutrients they need for optimal growth and health during the period where they are most vulnerable to diseases.
